Juanito Márquez was a Cuban guitarist, arranger, composer, and conductor, born on July 4, 1929, in Holguín, and passed away on June 21, 2025, in Miami. He was the son of a classical guitarist and orchestra director. Márquez left Cuba and lived in Spain from 1969 to 1976, where he worked as a musical director for Hispavox. Since 1976, he was based in Miami, joining Emilio and Gloria Estefan's Miami Sound Machine as an arranger and orchestrator. He was the creator of the style known as Pa'cá and collaborated with various artists, including Hermanos Aviles, Combo Siboney, Enrique Bonne, Luis Mariano Avilés, Gloria Estefan, Mari Trini, Julio Iglesias, Cachao, Bebo Valdés, and Julio Gutiérrez.
