Judy Collins is an American folk and pop singer and songwriter, born on May 1, 1939, in Seattle, Washington, USA. She achieved significant success in her music career, charting sixteen times as a singer and twice as a songwriter between 1967 and 1990. Collins is well-known for her cover of "Amazing Grace," which reached #15 overall and #5 on the Adult Contemporary chart in 1970, as well as hitting #5 in the U.K. Her song "Both Sides Now" peaked at #8 in the U.S. and #14 in the U.K. in 1968. The song she is most recognized for is "Send in the Clowns," which charted at #19 in the U.S. and #6 in the U.K. between 1975 and 1977. As a songwriter, she had chart success with "Open the Door (Song for Judith)" in 1971, which reached #90 in the U.S. and #23 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and "Secret Gardens," which hit #122 in 1973. Collins was married to Peter Taylor from 1958 to 1965 and again from 1996 until 2024.
