Juho Toivonen is a Finnish experimental musician known for his work in minimalist composition, improvisation, sound art, and lo-fi electroacoustic practices. His music delves into themes of memory, autobiography, and narrative structures, utilizing piano, acoustic instruments, field recordings, and tape-based processes to create fragile sonic environments. Toivonen is recognized for his intimate, home-recorded aesthetics and conceptual long-form works, which navigate the realms of minimalism, modern composition, and experimental underground traditions. His releases are distributed internationally, primarily through the Swedish label Discreet Music. In addition to his musical practice, Toivonen occasionally engages in publishing, pedagogy, writing, and curatorial activities.
