Julien Dyne is a Montreal-born drummer, producer, DJ, and visual artist known for his solo work on BBE Records and Wonderful Noise. He has collaborated with notable New Zealand artists such as Ladi 6, Opensouls, Fat Freddy's Drop, and Sola Rosa, among others. Julien attended the Red Bull Music Academy in Rome in 2004, where he received private drum tuition from renowned session drummer Bernard Purdie and learned production techniques from various guest lecturers. He was later invited to participate in 'A Class Of Its Own' recording sessions in Cologne, Germany, in 2007, working with esteemed musicians including the Mizell Brothers, Theo Parrish, and Erykah Badu's collaborator Om’mas Keith. His debut solo album, 'Pins and Digits,' garnered significant acclaim, receiving airplay from influential BBC DJs Gilles Peterson and Benji B and appearing on their top 100 lists in 2009. His second full-length album, 'Glimpse,' is currently available worldwide. Julien has toured extensively across New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and the UK, recently completing a solo tour in Japan. In addition to his music career, he is a visual artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland, and his artwork has been exhibited throughout New Zealand and featured in various publications, including 'Seen This Century: 100 Contemporary New Zealand Artists' by Warwick Brown.
