Julie London was an American actress, singer, and recording artist, born on September 26, 1926, in Santa Rosa, California, USA. She began her career as an actress in the 1940s and was married to an actor from July 16, 1947, until their divorce on December 2, 1954. Following her divorce, she transitioned into a successful jazz and pop singing career, managed by jazz musician and actor Bobby Troup, whom she married on December 31, 1959. London gained fame for her hit song "Cry Me a River," released in 1955, and was dubbed "the Liberty Girl." She was recognized by Billboard Magazine as the most popular female vocalist in 1955, 1956, and 1957, and recorded over 30 albums of jazz and pop standards, with her final studio album released in 1969. In addition to her music career, London starred in the popular TV series Emergency! for 126 episodes from 1972 to 1978, portraying RN Dixie McCall alongside her husband, Bobby Troup, who played Dr. Joe Early. There are some discrepancies regarding her birth name, with sources listing it as "Gayle Peck," "Nancy Peck," "Nancy Gayle," or "Nancy Gayle Peck." Julie London passed away on October 18, 2000, in Encino, California, at the age of 74.
