Junior Wells, born Amos Wells Blakemore Jr. on December 9, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee, was a renowned blues vocalist and harmonica player based in Chicago. He began his recording career in 1953 with States and continued to record regularly until his death on January 15, 1998. From 1965 onward, he often collaborated with a guitarist and also played with notable rock artists, including Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones, and Van Morrison.
