Justin Hinds was a pioneering figure in the ska and rocksteady music scenes, known for his collaborations with long-time friends Dennis Sinclair and Junior Dixon. The trio became one of the most successful acts for producer Duke Reid during their time. Drawing heavily from biblical themes and popular Jamaican proverbs, they recorded several well-known ska tracks, including "King Samuel," "The Higher The Monkey Climbs," "Jump Out A Frying Pan," and "Botheration." Hinds achieved significant success during the rocksteady era, particularly with his signature song "Carry Go Bring Come," which he recorded in both ska and rocksteady versions. He remained an active performer throughout his life, regularly touring North America and Europe, and his music saw a resurgence in interest due to his appearances on various reggae compilations. Born on May 7, 1942, in Steer Town, St Ann, Jamaica, Justin Hinds passed away from lung cancer on March 16, 2005.
