Justin Warfield, born on April 20, 1973, is a versatile musician and hip hop emcee with African-American and Jewish Russian-Romanian heritage. He is currently one half of the darkwave duo She Wants Revenge. In 1993, he released his debut hip-hop album, My Field Trip to Planet 9, featuring production by Prince Paul and QDIII. His latest work, the self-released Black Hesh Cult Mixtape, came out in July 2013. Warfield has explored various contemporary Western musical genres throughout his career, often choosing projects based on personal interest rather than commercial success. Instead of following up his hip-hop debut, he formed a psychedelic rock band, The Justin Warfield Supernaut. He gained recognition in 1991 with the hit single "Season of the Vic," which peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. He was also a member of the group One Inch Punch, which released its only LP, Tao of the One Inch Punch, in 1996. In She Wants Revenge, he embraces a heavily electronic sound influenced by bands such as Joy Division, New Order, Bauhaus, and Depeche Mode, while also drawing inspiration from contemporary groups like Interpol and the Faint. Warfield's most commercially recognizable track is "Bug Powder Dust," where he provided vocals for a Bomb the Bass release.
