K-9 Posse was formed by Wardell Mahone and Vernon Lynch at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. The group emerged in the late 80s as a product of Arista Records' attempt to enter the hip-hop scene. In 1988, they added DJ Terrence Sheppard to complete their lineup. Their debut album featured conscious rhymes, including the track ‘Someone’s Brother,’ but they failed to produce any hit singles and eventually faded from the rap world.
