K. Leimer is an American electronic composer and musician who has been active since the mid-1970s. He has released avant-garde and experimental music under his own name and has led a group primarily on his own imprint. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Leimer's family moved to Chicago during his childhood, and in 1967, they relocated to Seattle. It was there that he began creating experimental music using inexpensive instruments and magnetic tape manipulation. His more recent work is largely ambient, often tonal and textured, incorporating prepared piano, guitars, and synthesizers.
