Kafu Banton is a Panamanian reggae singer born in 1979 and raised in Pilón (Rio Alejandro), outside Colon, Panama. He adopted the name Kafu Banton in homage to Brazilian football player Cafu and drew inspiration from renowned reggae artist Buju Banton. Kafu was introduced to the genre by Ernesto Brown, known as Ness, who played a significant role in popularizing Spanish reggae. His first single, "Mad Man," was produced by Rodney Clark, known as "El Chombo," and he contributed to the "Cuentos De La Cripta" Vol. 2 & Vol. 3 compilations, which garnered public attention. During the peak of reggae's popularity in Panama, Kafu joined the revival of One Love, a group formed by Ness y Los Sensacionales, alongside Calito Soul and Papa Chan.
