Kankick, whose real name is Ted Hughes, is an American hip-hop producer hailing from Oxnard, California. Growing up in Oxnard, he was part of a vibrant hip-hop scene alongside notable musicians such as Madlib, Oh No, DJ Romes, and Dudley Perkins. In the early 1990s, Kankick was a key member of Lootpack, contributing to several of their tracks. He also produced early tracks for The Alkaholiks. Kankick later released a series of solo instrumental albums and collaborated with various artists, including Planet Asia, Declaime, and DJ Babu. His first official solo project, "From Artz Unknown," was released in 2001 and featured West Coast rappers like Declaime, The Visionaries, Krondon, Phil Da Agony, Planet Asia, and Wildchild.
