**Kansas City Express Bio** The Kansas City Express, originally known as the Fabulous Elites, emerged in the mid-1960s as one of Missouri's premier soul and funk outfits. This 11-piece group recorded at the legendary Damon Studios and featured the four Bedell brothers, who later helped form the Kansas City Express. Despite being based in a predominantly white area where country music was the norm, the band broke the mold and made a significant impact in Springfield, Missouri, and its surroundings. Their first and only single became a local hit in the Springfield area. The group's impressive showmanship attracted the attention of a local friend with connections to a record label, leading to their signing with the legendary Memphis-based Stax Records. Unfortunately, just four months after the Express joined the label, Stax disbanded, marking an unfortunate end to their recording relationship.
