Karel Fialka is an electro artist and poet, born in Bengal, India, to a Czech father and a Scottish mother. He gained recognition in 1979 with his indie release "Armband" on the Red Shift label, which became a cult classic. In 1980, he achieved a radio hit with "The Eyes Have It," featured on many New Wave collections and still receiving significant airplay. This track was part of his critically acclaimed album "Still Life" on the Blueprint label. After a lengthy gap of eight years, during which he remained a prolific songwriter with numerous covers of his songs by other artists, Karel returned in 1988 with his biggest hit, "Hey Matthew," released on Miles Copeland's I.R.S. records. His follow-up album, "Human Animal," offered quirky insights into life from Karel's unique perspective, with two additional singles, "Eat, Drink, Dance, Relax," and extended mixes of "The Eyes Have It" included in the CD version. Karel continues to write and record with various bands and artists while also engaging in production work. He has been working on his third album, a dark homage, which was released in 2009 as a digital download and in two hard copy formats from karelfialka.com.
