Karel Velebny was a Czech band leader, vibraphonist, saxophonist, pianist, composer, actor, and educator, born on March 17, 1931, and passed away on March 7, 1989, in Prague (former Czechoslovakia). He was a founding member of several musical groups, including one from 1958 to 1960, another from 1960 to 1961, and a third from 1961 onward. Using the pseudonym, he became a founding member of the Jára Cimrman Theatre in 1966 and was the originator of the fictional character's name.
