Karen Black was an American actress, screenwriter, singer, and songwriter, born on July 1, 1939, in Park Ridge, Illinois. She passed away on August 8, 2013, in Santa Monica, California. Black gained recognition early in her career, becoming part of a circle that included up-and-coming actors, established actor/directors, and notable filmmakers. She starred alongside Jack Nicholson in the 1970 film "Five Easy Pieces" and appeared in Nicholson's 1971 directorial debut, "Drive, He Said." Prior to these roles, she was featured in the iconic 1969 film "Easy Rider." Black was also known for her work in horror films, particularly for her performance in Dan Curtis' 1973 TV movie "Trilogy of Terror," where she portrayed three distinct characters.
