Kassa Overall is a Grammy-nominated musician, emcee, singer, producer, and drummer known for blending avant-garde experimentation with hip-hop production techniques, pushing the boundaries of jazz and rap. Originally from Seattle, he moved to New York City in 2006, where he lived with the legendary bassist and composer Bill Lee for two years. After receiving mentorship from trumpeter Wallace Roney, Overall toured in 2007 with pianist Geri Allen, whom he considers his musical mother. He has collaborated with various artists, including Das Racist, Vijay Iyer, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Yoko Ono, and many others. Overall spent five years with Geri Allen's Timeline band and nearly a decade with trumpeter Theo Croker, co-producing Croker's album "Escape Velocity." He was also the DJ for Jon Batiste and Stay Human, the house band for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Kassa released his debut album, "Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz," in January 2019, followed by his second album, "I THINK I'M GOOD," in February 2020. He also released a series of jazz remix mixtapes titled "Shades of Flu" in 2020 and "Shades of Flu 2" in 2021. Throughout his work, Overall remains rooted in the jazz drumming traditions of his mentors, having studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He is a graduate of Garfield High School,
