**Kawere Boys Band Bio**: The Kawere Boys were established in 1974 by Cheplin Ngode Kotula in Kericho, Kenya, quickly rising to prominence as one of the leading Benga groups in Luo land. Initially lacking musical instruments and accommodations, they were supported by A.P. Chandarana, who provided them with housing and instruments for rehearsal and recording. By late 1974, with the addition of singer Herman Dinda, the band had released several singles, acquired their own instruments, and expanded their lineup to include Juma Silas, Osumba John, Aloo Jossy ‘Jarapethii’, Juma Charlie on rhythm guitar, Otieno Ogor on bass, Sadok Otieno and Manase Aroko on drums, and Paul Dinda and Ouko McKenzie on lead guitar. Their collaboration with A.P. Chandarana lasted until August 1975, when they were brought to Nairobi by Oluoch Kanindo, where they recorded at High Fidelity studios before returning to Oyugis. However, the band's success led to internal disputes, resulting in a split in early 1978. One faction, including Herman Dinda and new recruit Elis Olela, became the Kalausi Band in Kisumu, while another faction, led by Cheplin Kotula, formed Kawere Jazz.
