Keith Emerson was a British musician and composer born on November 2, 1944, in Todmorden, Yorkshire, England. He is best remembered for his contributions to various musical groups and for his significant impact on electronic music. Throughout his career, Emerson consistently won the Overall Best Keyboardist award in the annual Keyboard Magazine Readers' Poll since the magazine's inception in 1975 and served on their advisory board. He was also honored at The Smithsonian Institution for his pioneering work in the field. Emerson passed away by suicide on March 11, 2016, at his home in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, USA, at the age of 71.
