Keith LeBlanc was an American hi-tech drummer and producer, born on November 10, 1954, in Bristol, Connecticut. He passed away on April 4, 2024, at the age of 69. LeBlanc was the founder of a prominent music project and worked closely with a bassist and guitarist, whose real name is not specified, first in a certain band and later in the house band for Sugarhill Records. His precise and tight playing can be heard on most of the Sugar Hill label's output. In 1984, he left Sugarhill to produce and arrange for Tommy Boy Records, where he met another influential figure and collaborated with him in various projects. LeBlanc's first solo album, "Major Malfunction," is considered the first Tackhead recording and had a significant impact on the industrial music scene. His drumming style was distinctive, characterized by precise 16th notes on the bass drum and syncopated hi-hat patterns, which were modern for the time. He also contributed his drumming talents to songs for notable artists such as Living Colour, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, REM, Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner, and Little Axe. Additionally, LeBlanc ventured into drum programming and sampling, notably in 1984.
