Kendra Morris is an American soul singer-songwriter born on April 10, 1981, and based in New York City. Her musical taste was shaped by a collection of late-60s and early-70s soul and funk, alongside a passion for the cinema scores of that era. After touring with Motown Funk Brother Dennis Coffey, she released a series of singles with collaborator Jeremy Page, including "Concrete Waves," which featured a remix by DJ Premier. Morris gained recognition with her albums "Banshee" and "Mockingbird," the latter being a covers album released on Wax Poetics records. Both albums received critical acclaim, developed a cult following, and garnered several film and TV placements. Notably, the title track "Banshee" was prominently featured in the Showtime series "Ray Donovan," while her cover of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" appeared in the trailer for the movie "Dead Man Down." During this period, she was awarded the Songwriters Hall Of Fame 'Holly Prize.' In 2013, Morris collaborated with friends Scarlett Johansson, Julia Haltigan, and Holly Miranda to form a side project band, with Este Haim on drums and TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek as producer. She returned with the album "Babble" in 2016, which received positive reviews and additional media placements. Morris has also focused on creating multimedia art, which she connects to her sonic universe. She has worked on collage art
