Kenny Dorham was an American trumpet player born on August 30, 1924, in Fairfield, Texas, USA. He passed away on December 5, 1972, in New York, New York, USA. Throughout his career, Dorham played in the big bands of various notable musicians and was a charter member of the original cooperative Jazz Messengers. He recorded as a sideman with several artists and replaced another musician in groups led by prominent bandleaders. As a leader, he recorded in 1956. In 1963, his group included a notable collaborator, with whom he worked for several years. Dorham died at the age of 48 from kidney disease.
