Kenny Seratt was born in 1934 on a cotton farm in Northeast Arkansas. Growing up with a father who was a traveling minister, he began performing and singing in churches, accompanying himself on guitar. In 1951, at the age of 17, he moved to Hemet, California, where he worked as a horticulturist at the Howard Rose Company. This opportunity allowed him to perform at various country night spots in Southern California, where he gained popularity for his musical style. By 1967, Kenny had performed in notable venues in Las Vegas, including the Ares Club, Arthur's Club, and the Blue Room. He was also a frequent guest on the Squeakin' Deacon's show on KFOX in Los Angeles and appeared on Cal's Corral show on KTLA. Additionally, he entertained audiences for a year with his band on radio station KHSJ in Hemet.
