Khartomb, an English band formed in 1981, seamlessly blended post-punk and reggae influences, drawing inspiration from contemporaries like The Slits and The Raincoats. Led by songwriters Ian Christie (guitar) and Caroline Clayton (bass, vocals, flute), the group also featured Simon (General Gordon) on drums, Ali Barnes, and vocalists Paula Crolla and Karen. Their sole release, the 1983 single "Swahili Lullaby" b/w "Teekon Warriors" on Dan Treacy's Whaaam! Records, showcased their distinctive sound. A 1982 John Peel Session further highlighted their talent. After a hiatus, Christie and Clayton revived Khartomb in the mid-2010s, continuing their musical journey.
