They recorded three albums together between 1988 and 1993: "2 Hype" (1988), "Kid 'N Play's Funhouse" (1990), and "Face the Nation" (1991). Their early career was managed and produced by Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor, who had previously been a member of the hip-hop group with Play. Their stage performances showcased their teen-friendly personalities and included their signature dance move, the Kick Step. Kid is recognized for his distinctive hi-top fade haircut, which stood six inches high, while Play often wore eight-ball jackets. During their peak popularity in early 1991, they experienced a brief "beef" with another artist, which was addressed in their song "Next Question" from "Face the Nation."
