Kid 'N Play is a hip-hop duo consisting of Christopher "Kid" Reid and Christopher "Play" Martin. They recorded three albums together between 1988 and 1993: "2 Hype" (1988), "Kid 'N Play's Funhouse" (1990), and "Face the Nation" (1991). Their early career was managed and produced by Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor, who had previously been a member of a hip-hop group with Play. The trio of albums featured positive lyrics and pop-friendly instrumental tracks. Among their most successful singles were "Rollin' with Kid 'N Play," which reached number 11 on the Billboard R&B singles chart in 1989, and "Funhouse" and "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody," both of which topped the Billboard rap singles chart. Kid 'N Play were known for their engaging stage presence and trademark dance, the Kick Step. Kid was recognized for his distinctive hi-top fade haircut, while Play often wore eight-ball jackets. During their peak popularity in early 1991, the duo experienced a brief feud with Vanilla Ice, who referenced them in his hit "Ice Ice Baby." Kid 'N Play addressed this in their track "Next Question" from "Face the Nation," which also responded to comments made by Luther Campbell.
