King Diamond, born on June 14, 1956, in Denmark, is a renowned heavy metal vocalist known for his work with Mercyful Fate and his own band. He is famous for his distinctive falsetto vocals, theatrical stage presence, and ever-changing face paint, often featuring inverted crosses. During his time with Mercyful Fate, his lyrics primarily revolved around occult and anti-Christian themes. However, with his solo career, he shifted his focus to Gothic horror stories, exploring themes of haunted houses, ghosts, and possession. In the 1980s, King Diamond faced significant criticism from religious groups and parental watchdogs due to his image and his association with the Church of Satan, of which he was an official member at the time. In recent years, he has stated that he follows no religion. King Diamond has relocated to Dallas, Texas, USA, and is married to Hungarian-born vocalist Livia Zita, who performs with his band and is also his business partner. His performing career faced challenges in the late 2000s due to health issues, including back surgery in 2007 and a triple-bypass in 2010.
