King Harvest is a French-American rock band formed in 1970 in Paris by four American expatriates: Ron Altbach (keyboards), Eddie Tuleja (guitar), Rod Novak (bass, saxophone), and Dave "Doc" Robinson (keyboards, bass, lead vocals). The band is best known for their hit single "Dancing In The Moonlight," released in 1972, which reached number 13 on the US charts in early 1973. Following this success, the group relocated from France to the US, specifically to Olcott, NY. Over time, the lineup included three keyboardists—Altbach, Robinson, and Sherman Kelly—alongside Tuleja on guitar, Novak on saxophone, Tony Cahill on bass, and David Montgomery on drums. All members had previous experience with other bands and session work. In 1971, King Harvest released several singles in France before signing with the Perception label the following year. Their first single with Perception was "Dancing In The Moonlight," which had originally been performed with an earlier group. Despite the success of their debut single, subsequent releases failed to achieve similar popularity, with only one other single, "A Little Bit Like Magic," reaching number 91 in 1973.
