King Meissa N'Gom, known as King N'Gom, is a Senegalese salsero who began his musical career in the late 1960s, recording several Afro-Cuban titles sung in Spanish. Despite his father's disapproval of his musical aspirations, he moved to Ivory Coast, where he recorded his first tracks in 1970. In 1975, he relocated to Benin, where he performed at the legendary Appolo club in Cotonou. Initially planning to stay for three days, he ended up living there for three years, becoming a prominent star and collaborating with the Djiki band on various recordings. Following his time in Benin, King N'Gom moved to Mexico, where he spent a decade singing salsa in a hotel.
