King Wellington is a calypso and soca artist from Trinidad & Tobago, who first recorded in the 1960s under the name The Cisco. In the 1970s, he reinvented himself as King Wellington. He is recognized as one of the artists who experimented with new sounds during the development of the soca genre, particularly by fusing calypso with American soul music and emphasizing the role of the drums.
