Kinsman Dazz is a soul funk band formed in 1976, emerging from the Cleveland, Ohio jazz fusion band, Bell Telefunk. The original lineup included lead guitarist and songwriter, a percussionist and drummer who is his brother, a bassist, a vocalist, and members of the band Mother Braintree. They took their name from Kinsman Street and the Sonny Jones' Kinsman Grill Lounge, where they served as the house band. Before the group adopted the name Kinsman Dazz, the song "Dazz" became an R&B hit for Atlanta's band in 1976. Kinsman Dazz was signed to a record label by Joe Lewis in 1978 and traveled to Los Angeles to record with a producer. However, due to illness, Gaye had to withdraw from the production duties, leading Harris to bring in Bailey, the vocalist of another band, to produce their first album, "Kinsman Dazz." Bailey also co-produced their second album, "Dazz," and significantly contributed to the group's vocal arrangements. The band released their first single, "I Might As Well Forget About Loving You," in late 1978, followed by "Catchin' Up On Love" in 1979. Kinsman Dazz gained recognition in 1980. Eventually, the group transitioned from their original label, which was closed, and signed to a new one as the Dazz Band. Members of Kinsman Dazz include
