Kitchen and the Plastic Spoons was a Swedish post-punk band formed in the spring of 1980 in a basement rehearsal studio in Stockholm. The original lineup included Anne Taivan (vocals), Helena Lönnqvist (synthesizer), Iggo Karlsson (synthesizer), Jackie Pazda (bass), and Mats Wigerdal (drums). The band initially performed under the name Gdansk, which they adopted after quickly writing and rehearsing three songs. After a couple of gigs, they changed their name to Kitchen and the Plastic Spoons. The band recorded their first single, “Serve You!”, in just two days after securing some free studio time. In early 1981, Patrik Lindvall joined the group on guitar, and they recorded their second single, “Ice Cream to God.” As the band's sound evolved to become darker and heavier, Anne Taivan left, and Iodine Jupiter took over as the vocalist. This new lineup recorded several songs for local compilations. Despite their promising start, the band broke up in November 1981 before they could record their debut LP. They later reunited for a series of gigs between 2008 and 2010.
