Kitty Wells was an American country music singer, born on August 30, 1919, in Nashville, Tennessee. Her stage name and persona were indirectly inspired by a 1927 recording featuring a song titled "Kitty Wells." She gained recognition through her association with Obed, a popular radio personality from WSM, a Nashville radio station, who was a local Tennessee legend at the time. Kitty Wells passed away on July 16, 2012, in Madison, Tennessee. She was married to a fellow singer, and together they had three children, all of whom became accomplished country singers.
