Klaus Schulze was a German electronic music pioneer, composer, and musician born on August 4, 1947, in Berlin. He passed away on April 26, 2022, at the age of 74 after a long illness. Schulze initially gained recognition as a drummer, performing with groups such as Psy Free and Tangerine Dream, where he contributed to their first album, "Electronic Meditation," before leaving the band. He also played with Ash Ra Tempel alongside Manuel Göttsching. In 1971, Schulze embarked on a solo career as an electronic musician, releasing experimental albums like "Irrlicht" and "Cyborg." His 1973 album "Cyborg" marked his first use of a synthesizer, the VCS 3. Throughout the 1970s, he recorded several notable albums, including "Moondawn," "Mirage," and "X," and toured extensively, with many performances documented on live albums. In 1978, Schulze established his own label and launched a pseudonym/project the following year. During the 1980s, he maintained a busy release schedule, recorded soundtracks, and transitioned to digital recording in 1986. In the summer of 1983, he sold Innovative Communication.
