Kleeer is an American funk and disco band based in New York City, formed in 1972. The band underwent several name changes throughout its history, initially starting as "The Jam Band" in the mid-'70s. In 1977, they changed their name again due to the rise of a British punk band, adopting a new name that is not specified. By 1979, they signed with Atlantic Records under the name Kleeer. The band gained a cult following in the UK and US, achieving a series of hits on the R&B charts. They recorded three entries in the US top 40 and two in the UK top 50, with "Get Tough" being the only song to chart on both sides of the Atlantic, while "Keep Your Body Workin'" is the track they are most remembered for. In their early days, Kleeer served as a backup group for another artist as they transitioned from Baltimore to New York, featuring members Richard Lee on guitar, Norman Durham on bass, Gregory Talbot on keyboards, and Woody Cunningham on drums.
