Kode9, born in Glasgow, Scotland, is a prominent figure in the junglist scene. He began DJing at the age of 16 in 1990, blending genres such as reggae, breaks, hip hop, jazz, funk, and house. As the breakbeat hardcore, jungle, and drum’n’bass scenes emerged, Kode9 became immersed in these styles, delivering a mix of breaks, ragga chat, and vibrant basslines. Throughout the 1990s, he performed across the UK, from Edinburgh to Coventry, before moving to London in 1997, where he was influenced by the darker aspects of the evolving 2step garage scene. He currently runs a label.
