Kofi Ayivor is a Ghanaian conga player, born on December 15, 1939, in Sokoto, Nigeria. He grew up in Denu on the eastern coast of Ghana, where he was trained by his uncle to become a master drummer in the Ewe tradition, renowned for its polyrhythms. In the early 1970s, Ayivor toured Europe and spent time in Sweden, recording two albums during that period. He later joined a band after a concert in Oslo, Norway, in 1973. In the 1990s, he rejoined the band for two additional albums.
