Kokomo

Kokomo was a blue-eyed soul band formed in 1973, comprised of members from various British groups. The band featured vocalists Dyan Birch, Paddie McHugh, and Frank Collins, who were former members of Arrival, a notable pop harmony band. Guitarist Neil Hubbard and bassist Alan Spenner had previously played with Joe Cocker's Grease Band. The lineup also included talented musicians Tony O'Malley (piano), Jim Mullen (guitar), Terry Stannard (drums), Joan Linscott (congas), and saxophonist Mel Collins. The original lineup disbanded in January 1977, but a reformed version of Kokomo emerged in the early 1980s, performing on the London gig circuit and recording one album. The band saw another reunion in the late 1980s, but this incarnation came to an end with the passing of Alan Spenner in August 1991.
