Kollaa Kestää is a punk and new wave band from Tampere, Finland, formed in 1977 by Kai Kivi, Jyrki Siukonen, and Juha Helminen. Mikko Nevalainen joined the group after their first single in spring 1978. They released their only album in 1979 before disbanding in the early 1980s. Known for their catchy punk anthems, they also explored sounds such as musique concrète and jazz, attracting the interest of jazz punk enthusiasts like Laura Logic from the UK and Mikko Saarela in Finland. The classic lineup consists of Kivi, Helminen, Siukonen, and Nevalainen, although the band is sometimes viewed as an avant-garde collective with various fringe members. Kollaa Kestää influenced bands like Liikkuvat Lapset and Sielun Veljet, positioning themselves as a minimalist counter to the expansive jazz punk sounds produced by their contemporaries, such as Jari and his group, Se, around the same time.
