Kool G. Rap, born Nathaniel Thomas Wilson on July 20, 1968, is an American rapper known for his influential contributions to hip-hop. He began his career in the mid-1980s as part of a duo and as a member of a collective. Recognized as one of the most skilled MCs, he played a significant role in pioneering mafioso rap, hardcore street narratives, and intricate multisyllabic rhyming. In his album The Giancana Story, he revealed that the "G" in his name stands for "Giancana," after mobster Sam Giancana, although he has also stated it stands for "Genius."
