Kristian Schultze (21 January 1945 – 22 November 2011) was a German pianist, arranger, and composer. Born in Frankfurt/Oder, he was the son of the composer of "Lili Marleen" and a renowned actress and singer. He grew up in Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro, and Berlin, receiving his musical education at Konservatorium and Musikhochschule Berlin, Wiener Akademie, and Jazzschool Graz. In 1968, he moved to Munich, where he worked as a composer, arranger, producer, and musician for various artists, films, television, and theater. In 1973, he joined a band as a keyboard player but left in 1977. In 1979, he and another collaborator started the studio project "Cusco," producing 22 albums and semi-albums that consistently charted near the top of the New Age charts. In 1985, he built a second D.I. studio in his house and continued to work as a composer, arranger, sound designer, and keyboard soloist for numerous national and international artists. From 1986, he studied computer theory, learned computer languages, and became a beta tester for software companies in Germany, contributing ideas that influenced major studio programs like Notator.
