Lawrence Parker, better known by his stage name KRS-One, was born on August 20, 1965, in The Bronx, NY, United States. His name stands for "Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone." Initially a graffiti artist, KRS-One designed the logo for his first recordings with a group. Throughout his career, he has adopted various pseudonyms, including "Kris Parker," "The Blastmaster," "The Teacha," and "The Philosopher." In recognition of his contributions to Hip-Hop music and culture, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 BET Awards for his work with the Stop the Violence Movement. He is married.
