Kurt Weill was a German composer born on March 2, 1900, in Dessau, Germany. He became a prominent and popular composer in Germany during the late 1920s and early 1930s, with his best-known work being the Threepenny Opera, which he co-created in 1928. In 1933, Weill left the Nazi regime, first relocating to Paris, then to London, and finally to the United States in 1936. He passed away on April 3, 1950, in New York City, New York, USA.
