Kutchi-Kutchi was a vocal duo formed in 1983 by Nucha and Maria León, who were just 16 years old at the time. They quickly gained attention in the Portuguese music scene and performed alongside Fernando Pereira. In 1984, they signed with Transmédia, the label founded by Nuno Rodrigues, who was also a member of Banda do Casaco. Through his imprint Schiu!, they released their only records, including the single “Dairundi / Não Morra de Ciúme” and a maxi-single featuring long and instrumental versions of the latter track. The songs were penned by Nuno Rodrigues, with arrangements by Celso de Carvalho and sound engineering by José Fortes, both of whom were also associated with Banda do Casaco. Although Kutchi-Kutchi did not release additional material under their own name, they continued to work as backing vocalists for various artists in both studio recordings and live performances.
