Kyoko Furuya (古家杏子) is a Japanese singer-songwriter who began her musical journey as a piano student at Tokyo’s Kunitachi College of Music. Inspired by the works of Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Roberta Flack, she pursued a music career after graduating in the late '70s. She debuted in a duo with future actress Yumi Mizusawa, gaining popularity in the acoustic Tokyo folk scene. In 1982, she released her album titled Cold Water (冷たい水).
