La Familia is a gangsta rap duo formed in 1996 in the Balta Albă (Salăjan) neighborhood of Bucharest. Considered one of the main pioneers of Romanian hip-hop, they reached their peak between the late 90s and mid-00s. From 1997 to 2006, La Familia released seven albums, one extended play, and numerous singles, although their continuity was interrupted by Sișu's three arrests. In 2004, the duo had a well-known beef with another band over the use of the name "La Familia," resulting in several lawsuits. They ultimately obtained the right to continue using the name, leading Puya to release the famous diss track "Foame de Bani" (Hungry for Money). Puya began his solo career in 2008, and the duo disbanded in 2011 after unsuccessful attempts to release new material. However, in 2017, they reunited and released their ninth studio album, "Codul Bunelor Maniere" (The Code of Good Manners).
