La Pesada was a collective formed in Buenos Aires in 1970, originally intended to be the backing band for another artist. The group featured notable musicians, including several who would later record solo albums with La Pesada as their backing band. By 1972, the line-up stabilized with members on guitars, bass and vocals, violin, and drums, alongside Billy Bond, who contributed vocals and production. La Pesada gained notoriety for its live performances, which were often controversial and attracted police attention, ultimately leading to a performing ban by the end of its active years. Despite this, the band remained active in the studio. La Pesada disbanded in 1974 after a terrorist bombing prompted core members to emigrate to Brazil.
