Lace Da Booms is a Brooklyn rapper who emerged in the NYC underground hip hop scene, showcasing significant talent and a strong message. His debut 12″ single, "Cut That Weak Shit," produced by Buckwild and released in 1996, served as a personal response to the rise of watered-down, R’n’B-infused hip hop that was beginning to permeate the industry. Lace Da Booms aimed to promote authentic hip hop through his music. Alongside his friend and business partner Matt Fingaz, he founded the respected independent record label Guesswhyld Productions, which has released music from various underground artists, including Mike Zoot, Tommy Tee, and El Da Sensei. Throughout the 1990s, Lace released all of his 12″ singles under the Guesswhyld imprint, making his work essential listening for true school boom bap hip hop enthusiasts.
