Esa, known by the stage name Lackluster, was born on October 26, 1978, in Helsinki. He first became interested in computer music at the age of six, inspired by songs created for C64 games and later by modules from artists like Aleksi Eeben, Niko Nyman, and Sami Järvinen on the Commodore Amiga. By 1994, Esa shifted his focus to ambient and IDM music, becoming an integral part of the Helsinki music scene and contributing to various netlabels. His first major label release, "Container," was well received by critics and electronic enthusiasts. Since then, he has released music through multiple labels across the US, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, and Sweden. Esa continues to explore new tracks and techniques from his flat in eastern Helsinki and can be contacted at esaruoho@gmail.com.
