Lacy Gibson was a renowned Chicago blues guitarist and vocalist, born on May 1, 1936, in Salisbury, North Carolina. He passed away on April 11, 2011, in Chicago, Illinois, due to a heart attack. Gibson was known for his sophisticated, jazz-influenced guitar style and powerful vocals, earning the respect of his peers as a "musician's musician." He recorded three albums under his own name and contributed to numerous recordings throughout his career. Gibson's impressive guitar work was featured in bands led by notable musicians such as Son Seals, Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, and many others. In 1949, Gibson moved to Chicago with his family, where he became immersed in the local blues scene and learned from legendary artists like Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters. By the mid-1960s, he was a sought-after session player for local labels, including Chess Records, where he collaborated with Buddy Guy. His first LP, "Wishing Ring," was released in 1971 on the El Saturn label, owned by his brother-in-law, Sun Ra. Gibson spent two years performing with Son Seals' band and contributed to Seals' "Live And Burning" album.
